July – Escaping the Heat and Revisiting an Old Project

July has been incredibly hot, making it nearly impossible to climb at lower elevations. To escape the heat, we’ve been heading to higher-altitude crags, like Niederthai, where the temperatures are a bit more manageable.
One of the highlights this month was getting back on an old project of mine. I was excited to give it another go, but unfortunately, I didn’t manage to send it this time.
Realization – Power Over Endurance
Surprisingly, endurance wasn’t the issue—all the Treadwall training has kept my stamina in good shape.
The real struggle? Explosiveness.
Since I took a more relaxed approach to training in June, I definitely felt a lack of power in dynamic moves and small crimps. I had been focusing more on endurance and cycling, and it showed.
Still, no regrets. It was a great reality check that power and finger strength fade faster than endurance if they aren’t trained consistently. Luckily, that’s something I can work on!
Great Days Regardless
Even though I didn’t get the send, the trip was still incredible. Climbing in cooler temps, surrounded by beautiful mountain landscapes, and just enjoying the process made it totally worth it.
Now, it’s time to shift my training focus a bit, bring back some power sessions, and hopefully get back to that project soon. The fire is still burning! 🔥💪
