Winter is still going strong here in Austria, but luckily, we’re not far from Arco and Lake Garda, which means we’ve been able to escape the cold and get back on real rock. Almost every weekend this month, we made the trip south to climb in Arco, enjoying the warmer temperatures and getting some much-needed outdoor sessions in before our big trip to Chulilla next month.
Getting Ready for Chulilla
Climbing in Arco has been the perfect preparation for Spain. The rock here offers a great mix of technical face climbing and endurance routes, exactly what we’ll need for Chulilla’s long limestone walls.
After months of mainly indoor training, it feels amazing to have real rock under my fingers again. The difference in movement, grip, and mental focus is huge compared to gym climbing or the Treadwall. It took a few routes to get used to reading the rock and trusting my feet again, but after a couple of sessions, it all started feeling more natural.
The Stoke is High!
With only a few weeks left until our trip, the excitement is building. The weekends in Arco have been a great way to transition back to outdoor climbing, and now I’m even more motivated to push my endurance and get stronger before heading to Spain.
April is going to be epic—I can’t wait for Chulilla, Siurana, and four weeks of climbing adventures! 🔥
