One Month In – My DIY Treadwall is Fully Equipped and a Game Changer

It’s been one month since I set up my DIY Treadwall, and I can confidently say: this thing is a game changer. After hours of tweaking, adjusting, and testing, the wall is now fully equipped with holds, and my training routine is starting to take shape.

Consistent Training – 2 to 3 Sessions a Week

Since getting the wall up and running, I’ve managed to train about two to three times per week, usually either before work or in the evening after work. Those early morning sessions have been a great way to wake up and get the blood flowing, while the evening sessions allow me to unwind after a long day.

Each session typically lasts around 30 to 40 minutes, which has proven to be the perfect duration—enough to get a solid workout in without feeling completely drained.

A Versatile Training Tool

One of the biggest advantages of having my own Treadwall is the sheer variety of training options it offers. I originally expected it to be mainly for power endurance and steep climbing, but I quickly realized that it’s so much more than that.

I love that I can train at high intensity by setting the wall to a steeper angle, forcing powerful movements and sustained effort, similar to steep bouldering.

But at the same time, I also have the option to dial down the intensity, keeping the wall nearly vertical for low-intensity sessions where I can move for extended periods without getting pumped at all.

This mix of high and low intensity has made my training far more balanced than before.

What’s Next?

Now that the setup is complete and I’ve built a solid training routine, my next goal is to start training specifically for an upcoming climbing trip to Kalymnos.

The island is known for its endless endurance routes on steep limestone, so my focus will shift towards longer sessions at a moderate intensity, mimicking the pumpy style of Kalymnos climbing.

I’ll experiment with sustained endurance laps, longer intervals, and footwork drills to prepare for those epic tufa routes.

This Treadwall is already proving to be the perfect tool for getting route-ready, and I’m excited to see how well this training translates to real rock!
