Ironman Roth – A Crazy Experience!
June was a special month because I finally competed in an Ironman—and not just any Ironman, but Ironman Roth, one of the most legendary triathlon events in the world!
When I injured my shoulder last year, I started rediscovering other sports I used to enjoy, like running and cycling. What started as a way to stay active during my recovery eventually turned into a serious habit, and before I knew it, I had signed up for one of the toughest endurance races out there.
I had never done a full Ironman before, so going into the race with over 5,000 other athletes was both nerve-wracking and exciting. The distances were brutal:🏊♂️ 4.2 km swimming🚴 180 km cycling🏃♂️ 42 km running (a full marathon!)
The Race – A True Mental and Physical Battle
The swim was honestly my biggest fear. I’m not a strong swimmer, but the energy of the event helped me push through. Coming out of the water felt like a huge victory already.
The bike section was where I felt most comfortable—I had done a lot of training rides, and 180 km, while exhausting, was at least manageable. But the marathon after that? That was pure survival mode. My legs were already dead when I started running, and every kilometer felt longer than the last.
Somehow, I made it to the finish line, and crossing it was one of the best feelings ever. The atmosphere, the cheering crowds, and the fact that I had pushed my body through this insane challenge made it all worth it.
An Amazing Experience, But…
As cool as it was, one Ironman is enough for me! The dedication and training required for triathlons at this level is insane, and while I enjoyed the challenge, my heart still belongs to climbing.
Still, I’m glad I did it—it was an incredible experience and something I’ll never forget. 💪🔥
