Setting Up the first Holds – 2 Hours of Pure Joy
Last night, I finally took the time to set up the holds on my DIY Treadwall. It took me about two hours, and even though I didn’t get to climb much afterward, I’m beyond excited about how it turned out!
Choosing the Right Holds – A Random but Fun Approach
Instead of planning specific routes or difficulty levels, I decided to mount the holds randomly. My goal was simple:
✅ Get a good variety of grips (jugs, crimps, slopers, pinches)
✅ Spread them out evenly to allow for fluid movement
✅ Make adjustments later based on how it feels to climb
I grabbed my box of holds and started experimenting. Some placements were obvious—big jugs for rest positions, some technical crimps for finger strength, and a few slopers to keep things interesting. I didn’t want to overthink it too much, so I just went with the flow and trusted that I’d tweak things as I go.
The Final Result – It Looks Amazing!
Once all the holds were mounted, I stepped back and took a moment to admire the wall. It looks fantastic—like a proper training setup, but still versatile enough to keep things fun and challenging.
Unfortunately, by the time I finished, it was already late, so I couldn’t do a real training session. But just standing in front of the Treadwall, imagining all the possibilities, was enough to get me hyped for the next session.
I can’t wait to try it out! 🔥💪
