Sometimes, the best trips are the ones you don’t plan too far ahead. I just got back from a spontaneous 9-day trip to Turkey, and it was exactly what I needed.
Out of those 9 days, we spent 7 full days climbing in Geyikbayiri, Turkey’s most famous sport climbing destination. It was an incredible experience—great weather, amazing rock, and the perfect break from everyday life.
Climbing in Geyikbayiri
Geyikbayiri is a paradise for sport climbers, with endless limestone cliffs, stunning tufas, and plenty of routes for all styles. Since I’m still building my endurance and strength back after my injury, I wasn’t pushing super hard but instead focused on enjoying the movement, getting mileage on real rock, and feeling comfortable again on harder routes.
We stayed at Josito Camp, a well-known spot for climbers in the area. It was the perfect place to relax between sessions, meet other climbers, and just enjoy the simple life—wake up, climb, eat, and repeat. The community there was great, and it really reminded me of why I love these types of climbing trips.
Rest Days in Antalya
Of course, climbing every single day wasn’t an option, so we took our rest days in Antalya. It was nice to explore the city, enjoy some good food, and just walk around in a totally different setting. The mix of climbing in nature and then recharging in the city was the perfect balance.
A Perfect Break from Routine
This trip was exactly what I needed—a short but refreshing breakout from everyday life. Climbing outdoors again felt incredible, and it gave me even more motivation to keep training for Kalymnos in April. Now, back to structured training—but with an extra dose of Stoke! 🔥💪
